Settling In
Once your child is ready, they move through into Penguin's room. This is done at their own pace to ensure a smooth transition. If necessary the key person from Ladybird's accompanies them for a few visits until they feel confident and secure in their new room. You are kept informed at all stages.
Play
In Penguin's room there are wide variety of different areas to explore, such as construction, role play, craft, a comfy book corner, mark making and much more. There is also access to the back garden, which is safe and secure and the home to a lovely apple tree. These apples are used by the whole nursery for printing, cutting up and cooking to make apple crumbles to take home and share. All children have their own named drawer in which they can put their artwork and other creations for safe keeping until home time. Message books are also kept in here for you to access.
Ratios
On busier days there are two members of staff in Penguin's with up to eight children - on quieter days, one staff member with up to four children. These small groups ensure positive relationships can be formed and that time is spent with each child individually.
