Ladybird's Room - 10 months to approx 2 years. Ratio 1:3
Ladybird's room is situated downstairs and is a lovely light, airy room. Our aim is to provide an environment that feels like home where the babies and toddlers can explore and play in a safe, relaxed atmosphere. We have a full range of age appropriate equipment, such as treasure baskets which contain a range of natural objects to explore. There is a comfy sofa for cuddles and stories and all the furniture is at toddler friendly height so pre-walkers can travel safely round the room and develop the confidence to walk unaided.
Ratios
There are always two members of staff in Ladybird's with up to six children. Each child has a key person to meet their needs. During the settling in period, that person will work closely with you and your child to ensure they feel happy and secure when the time comes for you to leave. You will also have had the time to form a good relationship with your child's key person and therefore feel confident that your child will be happy, cared for and that their needs will be met in the way you would wish.
Play
The room is designed to promote independence where the children can choose their own activities. As the groups are small, adult support is always at hand for encouragement and to prevent frustration.
During the day your child will have the opportunity to experiment with water, paint, glue or corn flour and water etc. so it's probably not a good idea to send them in their best clothes! We do encourage the children to wear aprons, but some can be a little reluctant.
Sleep Time and Food
We keep your child's nursery routine as near to their home routine as we can. We work with you with regards to their eating and sleeping needs. All children have their own bedding and are closely monitored whilst sleeping.
We provide a healthy snack both mid morning and mid afternoon with milk or water to drink. We ask parents and carers to provide a packed lunch and tea if staying past four thirty. Food can be safely heated if required.
